The 1987 VFL Season was the West Coast Eagles' inaugural season in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club was introduced to the competition as part of the VFL's expansion. Ron Alexander was appointed coach of the team and Ross Glendinning was appointed captain. The Eagles played 22 games, winning 11 and losing 11 to finish 8th on the ladder. This famous retrospective reproduction West Coast merino woollen jumper commemorates the club’s 1st year in the VFL, as worn by household Eagles names such as Glendinning, Mainwaring, Annear, Narkle, Malaxos, Lewis, Wrensted, Matera and Worsfold.
This rare jumper features the authentic Burswood sponsor woven patch and VFL patch on the chest as worn in period and the merino wool in this Guernsey was grown by sheep grazing the Australian landscape, cared for by Australian farmers, and shorn and manufactured here in Australia under official license from the AFL.
The jumper features a traditional v-neck design is a must-have for any Eagles diehard.
